Inspired by the Lowcountry’s storied basket-making tradition, this course introduces a variety of techniques for the basket-curious. Learn to weave, twine, coil, and loop with foraged and store-bought natural materials. During each class, we will make a small vessel or object using a different technique and material. Practice making your own cordage, and discuss how to ethically harvest, dry, store, and prepare plant materials. All levels are welcome to discover the slow and haptic joy of this ancient activity alongside friends.
